Why is Tiana white or light skinned?

cause she made them all different ethnicities

But why? Tiana is the only Disney Princess that’s black, so white washing her makes no sense at all.

So let’s get this right. It’s okay to make white princesses into non white princesses but if you make a non white princess into a white princess it’s not okay. Even though it’s just one and every single one of the other princesses have been changed as well. I me just making sure I have this whole complaint down and I’m not missing anything.

It’s never okay to white wash a character that isn’t white. In this case, Disney only has what, four princesses that aren’t white. The artist thought it was perfectly fine to reduce that number by at least one.

Let’s put it this way, imagine if this were Star Trek fan art and they made Uhura, Geordi, or Hoshi Sato white. Would that be okay, as long as they changed the ethnicity of the rest of the cast? Or what about Storm from the X-Men comics?

White washing is never acceptable.

I thought Tiana was drawn as Asian here. Korean maybe someone help me out I can’t pin the dress down

source says ‘china style’

{and refs this as inspiration}

it’s a cheongsam i blv

like the artist is italian and this all feels kind of casually stereotypical anyways, like idk if cinderella as a geisha is clever or orientalism

but it’s not a star trek swapcast with nicholas hoult as uhura and clemence poesy as khan, which will always be the gold standard for ‘no stop’

I couldn’t tell that she was supposed to Chinese. The dress looked Asian-style, but I didn’t want to just jump to a conclusion. I figured the artist either made Tiana white or lightened her skin tone. Admittedly, I could have gone to their DA, but I was afraid I’d see “racebent” versions of Mulan, Jasmine, and Pocahontas.

What bugged me about is that Tiana is the only black princess and changing her ethnicity just seems wrong to me. The fact that the artist made Aurora black at the same time just comes off as weird, like they didn’t think there could be two black Disney Princesses.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually like the others, especially Ariel, but the Tiana one just nagged me.

I think that the comments here are ridiculous. It wasn’t about making someone white or black, it was demonstrating that various cultures and various ethnicities are mendable, or interchangeable because we would love them all the same no matter what the race or culture is because it’s a story about a situation, not about the race of the main character. To say “white washing is never acceptable” is still racism. Maybe if people got the opportunity to experience a culture that is not what dominated, like I have they would understand this.

No one has ever spoken up when I was called a little white cunt, a white rich princess ( which as I recall.. I live in the same ghetto as you… so I’m clearly not wealthy). Or when I have been told that soon I’ll be the slave race… that’s just not needed because I have never seen people for the race before I’ve seen them for who they are as a person.

I’m not saying that that these were  extreme cases but none the less no one cared because “white” “racism” doesn’t exist just like “female on male violence”  doesn’t exist as noted in this video.

That is all I have to say.
